Rabbie Burns’ Bottom Drawers
A riotous musical comedy uncovering the scandalous side of Robert Burns.
What happens when Scotland’s national bard’s naughtiest secrets are dragged out into the open?
Set in 1796, just after Burns’ death, his unsuspecting housekeeper stumbles upon a hidden stash of very explicit poetry tucked away in a bottom drawer. Naturally, the local literary society decides there’s only one thing to do… put on a public reading!
You, the audience, become the 18th-century townsfolk, invited to an evening of shocking, hilarious and surprisingly beautiful verse. Expect outrageous songs like 'Nine Inch Will Please a Lady' and 'The Fornicator', alongside the heartfelt My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose, building to a rousing, join-in finale of Auld Lang Syne.
Performed by Christine Weir and Cameron Robertson, this raucous two-hander gleefully mixes period drama with modern musical flair — featuring keyboard and saxophone in defiance of all historical accuracy.
