I Think I'm Turning Japanese (I Really Think So, Not!)

Blending British wit with Japanese sensibility, I Think I’m Turning Japanese (I Really Think So, Not) is a smart, funny, and heartfelt look at life between cultures. After six years living in Japan — and twenty years of bilingual family chaos between Tokyo, Honolulu, and London — comedian Sam Joseph explores what happens when East meets West, manners meet madness, and love meets language barriers.

Through sharp stand-up, hyper-verbosity and a smattering of DuoLingo, Sam unpacks marriage, miscommunication, and the myths of “becoming Japanese” with warmth and absurd humour.

“Superb” – Pete Dickenson

“Very creative” – George Tothill

“Like a geek, grown up” – Markus Birdman

“A breath of fresh air” – Travis Booth-Millard

Following his hit VR-infused show Comedy Booby Trap, Sam returns to the Fringe with something new: part cultural confessional, part comedy therapy session, and entirely unlike anything else on the circuit. Come laugh, learn, and maybe bow awkwardly.
