Immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere of Brighton! The centrally located a&o Hotel Bar is a modern bar located opposite the Speigeltent on Old Steine, and just around the corner from Brighton Palace Pier. There's food, drink, pool and a spacious and friedly bar attached to a Hostel, and Fringe shows running right the way through the Fringe. The whole bar and Fringe venue is fully disabled accessible on the ground floor, with a disabled toilet.


The Venue

a&o Hostel Bar is the Laughing Horse's newst Fringe venue, premiering in 2025 - and a venue that offers full disabled access for audiences and performers with step-free access and disabled toilet facilities. The venue is in a great location, situated opposite the Brighton Spigeltent site and just around the crorner from the pier, central coach station and numerous bus stops. It's a venue with a great modern bar area and a built in adudience of hostel guests.

There are two Fringe performance spaces on the ground floor, "The Meeting Room" (used in 2025) and "The Front Room (new for 2026) - and both are separate from the main bar. There is also an outdoor seating at the front of the venue, a dining room and cheap accomodation.


The Performance Space: The Meeting Room 

  • Stage: 3m x 2m flat floor. It is easy to increase space but would requre removing some seating.
  • Backstage: There is no backstage area in this room.
  • Capacity: 50
  • Lighting: Basic Stage lighting to Flood the stage
  • Blackout: Not Possible 
  • PA System: In House PA system. Large Mixer at Sound Position near the stage. 3 Cable Mics, Mic Stands and small audio jack to plug in MP3 Player provided.
  • AV: TV screen to the side of the stage
  • Storage: There is a very small area for equipment at the venue for props and equipment, shared with other groups.
  • Green Room/Performers Area: No
  • Bar: There is no bar in the room, the nearest bar is the main bar along the corridor from the performance space
  • Accessibility: Fully accessible, flat floor and nearby disabled toilet.

FRONT ROOM: General View of Room in unrigged state as room will be new in 2026. Windows will be covered in curtains for stage backdrop/furniture removed for theatre style seating/stage at far end of image - sound proof curtains to entrance nearest camera.
